De DX-tips voor de week van 25 oktober – 1 november

4X  Israel  – 4X0VK (31 October-1 November), 4X0ZL (7-8 November) and 4X0UK (10-11 November) are the special callsigns for three field radio operations commemorating the British and ANZAC forces that fought during World War I in pre-state Israel. QSL all stations via 4X6ZM.

6O  Somalia – The 6O3T DXpedition failed to get on the air in September 2024, with the operators describing that experience as “definitely traumatic”. Now a new team (Fabrizio IV3JPP, Mauro IV3AZV and Elvira IV3FSG), with “a renewed awareness of the territory and a stronger operational strategy”, has been active as 6O3T from northern Somalia since 20 October. They have five stations for activity on 160-6 metres FT8 (MSHV), SSB and CW, but so far they have operated almost exclusively FT8: “we are facing a very high level of local QRM, with background noise consistently above S9” they say, “which makes it extremely difficult to properly copy signals and manage an effective pile-up”. None of the various mitigation solutions that have been tested, including filtering systems, improved grounding and antenna setup checks, has produced a significant improvement. “In the coming days, we will continue to test new configurations and operating strategies, with the goal of returning to CW and SSB as soon as conditions make it realistically possible”. Plans are for 6O3T to remain active until 3 November. QSL via Club Log’s OQRS (direct and bureau), or direct only to IV3DSH; full upload to LoTW 12 months after the DXpedition. Bookmark https://dxexplorer.net/ for updates.

To avoid any confusion with the ongoing 9L8MD operations from the mainland, the IOTA activity will use the callsign 9L9L. From 2 November onwards, teams of two will take it in turns to stay on the island for three days (two nights) in a local resort. Look for 9L9L to be QRV on 40-6 metres. QSL via IK2VUC.
